I met this young man 14 years ago as a teenager. Today, DeSean Jackson is living his dream of being an NFL Wide Receiver. His inspirational story is documented in the film, DeSean Jackson: The Making of a Father’s Dream. God has a plan for your life. #stayfocused #itcanbedone

When you help someone else succeed in life you are also creating opportunities of success for yourself. I can recall countless of people who invested into my life. The list consists of parents, friends, classmates, teachers and coaches from East High School, Iowa State University, to the Houston Texans, University of Houston, members at Lakewood Church and the list goes on and on. Without their encouraging words and help, I would have never accomplished some of my goals. Words of affirmation like, “Never give up,” “You’re going to make it,” and “God has something great for you,” spoke volumes to my heart in seasons of waiting and preparation. These individuals I will never forget, but most importantly, God will never forget what they have done. Matthew 6:18 says, “Your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.”
When you invest in someone else’s life, chances are that someone will invest into your life and unexpected opportunities will come your way. Let’s not focus on what others can do for us but what we can do for others. Something as small as opening a door for someone else may one day result in someone opening a door for you and your dreams. Simple acts of kindness, words of encouragement, and giving hope are meaningful ways to invest in others and bring success, joy, and happiness to your own life. So remember when you help someone else win, you win as well.
We are so honored to be the guest speakers for the Love Your Marriage class at Lakewood Church tomorrow night. We are so grateful for the gift of marriage that God has given us and we are so excited to share our journey with you! Look forward to seeing you there!
